It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Ames of Clay City, Illinois, born in Crawford, Colorado, who passed away on August 14, 2020, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ray Ames, Sr. and Catherine (DeWitt); his children, Linda Stanford, Mike and Ron Garrard; and his sister Louise Edgington.
He is survived by: his close friend Vera "Pat" (Sampson); his sons, Steve Ames (Connie) of Oblong and Larry Garrard (Jeanie) of Oblong; his grandson Robert Taylor (Patty) of Salem, IL; his daughters, Debbie McCarthy (Elmo) of Rinard, IL, Mary Cole (Robert) of Clay City and Gaitha Miller of Noble; and his grandchildren, Billy King, Jeremy King, Matthew McCarthy, Christopher McCarthy, Kelsie Frederick, Amber Sanders, Cassandra Lagle, Nichol Britton (Doug), Kasey Taylor, Dustin Taylor (Heather), Katie Stanley (Brandon) and Haley Miller. He is also survived by several Great Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
