He is survived by: his wife Judy Murphy of Clay City; his children, Tanya Petrillo (Tom) of Salem, Charlie Murphy (Ashley Lyons) of Centralia, Stephanie Murphy-Wilson of Okawville, Camelia Hurd (John Hill) of Mt. Vernon, Matthew Hurd (Mandy Bergstrom) of Rinard and Timmy Murphy; his grandchildren, Roman Durre (Miranda), Mason Durre, Liberty Buchanan, Adysen Pracht, Carolyn Hurd, Vicky Jo Hurd and Ethan Petrillo; and his siblings, Tina Bly, Harold Spitzner and Wesley Murphy. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
