With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Irene Ruth Coon of Chillicothe, Illinois, born in Peoria, Illinois, who passed away on May 27, 2022 at the age of 105. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mellivilin Sorenson and Edith Britton Sorenson; her husband William S. Coon Sr.; her son William S. Coon Jr.; and her siblings, Mel Sorenson and Edith Wright Olson.
She is survived by: her daughter Sue Brooks of Chillicothe; and her grandchildren, Brian Brooks (Tara) of Bethalto, IL, Daniel Brooks (Joni) of Chillicothe, IL, Mike Brooks (Vicky) of Peoria, David Coon of New York City, Meredith Coon of New York City and Steven Coon of Florida. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to the American Cancer Society.
