He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, David Shane and Carrie Shane (Russell); his wife Carolyn Schuler; his children, David Shane of Chenoa, Debra Bandy (John) of Normal and Dee Ann Foor (Dennis) of Gridley; his grandchildren, Myles, Maggie Shane, Alex Roth (Erin), Luke Roth (Amy), Ben Roth, Jake Foor (Stephanie), Seth and Max Foor; his great grandchild Ford Roth; and his siblings, James Shane (Janice) of Nevada and JoAnn Moit of Pontiac.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Chenoa or the American Diabetes Association.
