He was predeceased by: his parents, Julia A. Sims and Gaines Allen Sims; and his sister Angela Barnes. He is survived by: his siblings, Christina Sims (Garrett), Allen Sims, Michael Sims (Sarah), Charles Barnes, Harold Barnes Jr. (Kate) of Virginia and Quincy Barnes. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
