He is survived by: his former wife Judy Smith; his wife Lydia Hatfield (Johnston); his children, Charles Alan West (Yukiko "Yuki") of Clayton, DE and Denise Summers of Belleville, IL; his stepdaughters, Christina Burke (Carlos) of Casselberry, FL and Teresa Bennett of Janesville, WI; his grandchildren, Hanna Summers of Belleville, IL, Charles Aaron West (Heather) of Louisiana, Johnathan West (Taylor) of Louisiana, Melissa McDonald (Shawn) of Louisiana, Thorin West of Oklahoma, Gabriel West and Brandon West of Clayton, DE; his stepgrandchildren, Megan Summers of St. Louis, MO, Kate Summers of O'Fallon, IL, Zane Morgan of Janesville, WI and Zachary Morgan (Karla) of Deforest, WI; his great grandchildren, Charles Adam West of Louisiana, Lillian Mae West of Louisiana, Kai Tillman of Louisiana, Mila Samson of Louisiana and Sunnie Edwards of O'Fallon; his brother-in-law Ron Johnston (Nancy) of Centralia; his nieces and nephews, Vicki Vaughn (Chase) of St. Charles, MO, Andrea Quarles (Devin) of Broomfield, CO, Daniel West (Kathy) of Gulf Shores, AL, Daniel Johnston (Cindy) of St. Joseph, IL and Jeremy Johnston (Amanda) of Hoffman, IL; his great-nephews, Cody Johnston of St. Joseph, IL, Haydn, Logan Johnston of Hoffman, IL, Isaak and Carter Quarles of Broomfield, CO; his great-niece Elise "Ellie" Johnston of Hoffman, IL.; and his close friend Kristy Kirgan Grover.
