Carl Wright Obituary
65, of Central City passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He was born on April 2, 1956, the son of Jesse Wright and Jassamine Covington in Chicago. He married the love of his life Sara Hall on August 24, 2001, in Salem and she survives in Central City. Along with his wife of 20 years Sara Wright survivors include his beloved family sister Khadizah Covington of Chicago; brother Charles Thomas of Centralia, and Odey Wright of Chicago; children Carl (Misha) Thorpe of Chicago, Toi (Jason) Thorpe of Chicago, Carlos (Andrea) Johnson of Centralia, Jassemine (Kevin) Johnson of Centralia, Dashae Johnson of Centralia, Carly (Justin) Rye of Centralia, Samantha Hall of Centralia, Sevan (Zohreh) Wright of Florida, Trustin Wright of Salem, Torin Wright of Salem, and Carlton (Jackie) Hall-Wright of Pontoon Beach; 24 precious grandchildren, with 1 on the way; 6 cherished great-grandchildren, with 2 on the way; mother-in-law and father-in-law Mary and Bill Hall of Odin; sisters- in-law Mary Ann Hall of Odin, and Carmen Hall of St. Elmo; brother-in-law Billy (Kelly) Hall of Odin; several nieces and nephews; close friends Charesse and Kent Richards of Streator;.
He was a father figure to many including Tyler Parrish (Jackie), Anthony Parrish, Ilesha Weathersby, Cody (Emon) Matson, and Tanner Shelton. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Wright and Jassamine Covington; grandparents Sevan and Irene Wright; brother Walter Ray; and brother-in-law Richard Bauer. Carl was a man of great faith serving as minister and playing the drums at New Covenant Church.
He was well known for his impressive cooking skills and loved to feed people his creations. Carl will forever be known as the barbeque king and the amazing tastes from his grill will always be remembered. He was meticulous about keeping his car clean and everyone envied the beauty of his car. Carl had a huge heart and touched so many lives with his kindness.
He was an uncle to all who knew him and had a special way of making people feel welcome. Carl's family was his life and he loved each of them with all he had. He was proud to spend time with his grandbabies and great-grandbabies, especially Serayne and Dozie. Carl was a man that put family first who will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
A private celebration of life service will be held later. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August, 31, 2021, at New Covenant Ministries in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Carl's honor to the Family's Wishes and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home. Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is privileged to be assisting the family of Carl Wright with arrangements.
