He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Tyler and Miranda Tyler (Carney); his wife Mary Ann Tyler (Jarboe); his siblings, Winnie Sadivey and Russell Tyler; his niece Theresa Schultz; and his nephew Jay Tyler.

He is survived by: his daughter Rebecca Steele (Brandan); his siblings, Norma Sue Guinn (Don), Linda Galloway (James), Brenda Arans (Arlyn) and John Tyler (Beverly); his grandchildren, Nicholas Tuner, Cole Hammers, RaeLee Wilson, Sierra Steele and Shyann Steele; his stepgranddaughters, Victoria Crack and Jennifer Crack; and his great grandchildren, Calista Turner, Chase Turner and Ansley Adcock.
