He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Brooks and Beverly Brooks (Peterson); his wife Janice Smith; and his brothers, Kenny, Larry and Doug Brooks.

He is survived by: his son Ed Brooks (Jerry Velasquez) of San Francisco, CA; his brother Colin Brooks of Douglasville; and his close friend Emy Trotz of Bolingbrook.
