He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Raymond E. Baxter and Eleanor Floyd Baxter; his siblings, Robin Aldridge and William Baxter (Bill); and his niece Nancy Capezio.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Lou Murray; his sister Terri Whirrett (Dave) of Columbia, SC; his daughters, Julie Calmès (Emmanuel) and Kathryn Cole (Daniel); his grandchildren, Abigail, Jane, Louis, Grace, Antoine, Charlotte and Madeline; his nieces, Amy Hartline and Linda Querrey (Jay); and his nephew Dr. Brian Whirrett (Elizabeth).
