He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles L. Atkinson and Gertrude May Atkinson (King); his wife Dorothy "Dee" Faye Osborn; and his child Michale S. "Mike" Atkinson, Sr.. He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Jackie Atkinson of Peoria; his grandchildren, Michale Jr. (Jana) of Pekin, Michala (Jacob) of Hanna City and Mikyren of Peoria; and his great grandchildren, Keegan, Adilyn, Alice and Kohynn.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
