It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sam W. Walker of Astoria, Illinois, born in Benton, Illinois, who passed away on January 15, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Walker and Virginia Walker (Grimes); his son David Walker; and his sister Nicki Joan. He is survived by: his daughter Valerie Strayer (Bill); his daughter-in-law Debi Walker; his grandchildren, Will Strayer, Shelbi Strayer, Courtney Strayer and Taylor Walker; and his brother David Luke Walker (Nikki).
Memorials in Sam's name may be made to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in honor of his love of Anderson Lake and the time he and his family spent there.
