We are sad to announce that on June 16, 2024, at the age of 93, Shirley A Schmidt of Alton, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, George C. Chappell and Lorine Chappell (Lagemann); her husband Earl D. Schmidt; and her siblings, Imogene Watson, Ruth Fowler, Mildred Malson, Susan Yost and Michael Chappell.

She is survived by: her children, James Schmidt (Dana) of Albuquerque, NM, Carla Schwarz of Belleville, IL, Carol Schmidt (Roger McFarland) of St. Louis, MO and Ann Kolarik (Bruce) of Wichita, KS; her grandchildren, Mark Schmidt (Stephanie), Dale Schmidt (Mariana Uribe), Sara Schmidt, Melissa McFarland (Sam Sparks), Thomas McFarland and Matthew Schwarz; her great grandchildren, Josephine and Margaret Schmidt; and her sister Sandra Vail.
