He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Leon and Ethel Irene Thurman (Schisler); his wife B. Darlene Abel; and his siblings, Paul, Lawrence, Donald Thurman and Lucille Robinson.
He is survived by: his children, Steven L. Thurman of Salem, Lawrence P. Thurman (Peggy) of Independence, Leslie R. Thurman (Margaret) of Abingdon, Teresa D. Ford (Russell) of Macomb and Michele M. Thurman of Burlington, Iowa. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.
