He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter W Berntsen and Kate Edalene Farnes; his wife Beverly Clair Smith; and his siblings, Arthur Louis Berntsen, John Russell Berntsen and Bernice Berntsen Pierson.
He is survived by: his children, Marilynn Berntsen (Salt), Mark Berntsen (Gayle), Katie Flanigan (Tim), Suzy Price (Quentin) and Eric Berntsen (Patty). He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren.
