Duane Richard Way, aged 82, passed away in Hagerman, Idaho on January 24, 2023. Duane was born in Fremont, Nebraska on April 15, 1940, the son of Glen Wesley Way and Ruby Way. Duane spent his childhood living and working on farms.. One of his favorite memories of this time was that he would drive the tractor to his one room schoolhouse at the age of 8, returning home after school, once he had filled the water tank for the animals, on the wagon.
Duane is survived by a sister, Mary and her husband Ray Gobber of Lincoln, NE and a brother, Paul Way and his wife, Tara, of Aurora, CO, and preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Melvin, and sister, Peggy Way Maclin.
Duane graduated from Fremont High School in 1959 and married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Krenzer. Together they had three children, Terry Lee and his wife, KImberly Brady, Jerome, ID, Gary Dee (deceased), and Kathy Jolene and her husband, Daniel Rich Proctor, Oceanside, CA. Together, they moved first to Boise, ID (1962) and then to Twin Falls, ID (1964) where they purchased a 40 acre farm on South Blue Lakes where Duane enjoyed farming and working in his body shop on the property, Duane Way’s Auto Body Shop. He spent many years pounding dents out of fenders, with his love being the art of rebuilding and repainting classic cars.
During this time, Duane enjoyed volunteering with Boy Scout Troop 67, teaching Bible studies at the Twin Falls United Methodist Church, volunteering with The Lions International Club, exploring the Sawtooth Mountains and building trails with the Magic Valley Trail Machine Association, and square dancing with various groups around the valley.
Later in life, Duane met Lavon Parrish and they married in 2000. Together, they spent his final years on a farm in Wendell, ID.
Duane is survived by his wife, Lavon. He has four grandchildren; Brady Lee Way, Daniel James Proctor, Nathan Rich Proctor, Nicole Jolene Proctor, and four great grandchildren.
Many thanks to the caring staff of Stonebridge Care Home, both in Wendell and Hagerman, for caring and loving dad during his two year stay.
