He is survived by: his children, Jesse, Tela and Katherine; his sister Joi; his brother-in-law Paul; his parents, Midge Carter of Defiance, Iowa and Roland Smith of Panama, Iowa; and his sister Kim Hansen (Mark) of Harlan, Iowa. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews; one great nephew; one great niece; and many other relatives and friends.
