It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hermina Van Roekel of Sioux Center, Iowa, born in Corsica, South Dakota, who passed away on November 2, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Cornie Van Roekel of Alvord, IA; her son Jake Van Roekel; her parents, Herman Zomer and Jennie Zomer; and her siblings, Chet Zomer, Jean Blom and Herman Zomer.
She is survived by: her children, Jennie Zomer (Kaptien), Jerrold Van Roekel (Elaine) of Rock Valley, IA, Harlan Van Roekel (Gert) of Grand Rapids, MI, Patti Van Roekel of Ireton, IA, John Van Roekel (Sheryl) of Coopersville, MI, Jan De Kruyf (Randy) of Sioux Center, IA, Dennis Van Roekel (Glenda) of Sioux Center, IA and Cindy Van Beek (Brent) of Orange City, IA; her siblings, Hattie Van Dyke of Grand Rapids, MI, Nina Koedam of Rock Valley, IA, Lene Walma of Corsica, SD, Fran Overweg of Grand Rapids, MI, John Zomer of Sioux Center, IA and Alvin Zomer of Rock Valley, IA; and her sister-in-law Sylvia Zomer of Corsica, SD. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
The Van Roekel Family prefers memorials be directed to Netherlands Reformed Christian School.
