She was predeceased by: her parents, Lucas Vust and Jennie Vust (Reemtsma); her husband Lyle Popkes; her siblings, Mary Klaassen, Ruth Backer, Fred and Jake Vust; her son Steven Popkes; her grandson Mark Popkes; and her siblings-in-law, Ervin Backer and Margaret Vust.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Den Beste (Edward) of Huxley, IA, David Popkes (Barbara) of Sheldon, IA and Beverly Heiliger (Timothy) of Sibley, IA; her daughter-in-law Renee Popkes of Santa Clara, CA; her grandchildren, Edward Den Beste (Stacey Horning) of Atlantic, IA, Renee Den Beste of O'Fallon, MO, Sarah Waganaar (Hans) of Sioux Falls, SD, Scott Popkes (Annie) of Iowa City, IA, Maggie Garry (Justin) of Sioux Falls, SD, Tessa Loeschen (Tim) of Sheldon, IA and Ethan Heiliger (Casey) of Sioux Falls, SD; her stepgrandchildren, Brittany Finch of Maine, Brandon Luebke (Katie) of California and Bryce Luebke of California; and her siblings, Louis Vust (Joanne) of Little Rock, IA, Walter Vust of Little Rock, IA and June Vust of Sheldon, IA. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren.
Family prefers memorials be directed to Camp Shetek in Slayton, MN.
