He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Holmes and Dorothy Holmes; his wife Helen L. Holmes (Christensen); his brother Robert Holmes; and his daughter-in-law Belinda Holmes.
He is survived by: his children, Marla Rae Schmidt (David) of Lone Rock, IA and Darwin Gene Holmes of Essex, IA; his grandchildren, Laura Brogan (Chad) of Huffman, TX, Tyler Holmes (Johanna) of Katy, TX, Cliff Holmes (Ashle) of Essex, IA and Ben Schmidt of Algona, IA; his brother Wayne Holmes of Shenandoah, IA; and his sister-in-law Marilyn Holmes of Shenandoah, IA.
