He was predeceased by: his parents, Thorvald Rasmussen and Christina Rasmussen (Nelson); and his nephew John Rasmussen. He is survived by: his former wife Mary Ann Davis; his children, Julie of Spirit Lake, Kelly Rasmussen of Ringsted, Michael Rasmussen (Teresa) of Ringsted, Susan Rasmussen of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Amanda Morris of Ringsted; and his siblings, Arne Rasmussen (Mary) of Milford, Erik Rasmussen (Cathy) of Mankato, Minnesota, Marie Godfredsen (Bob) of Sibley and James Rasmussen (Julie) of Mesa, Arizona..

Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the United Lutheran Church (208 W Maple St, Ringsted, IA 50578). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be given to United Lutheran Cemetery Fund or Happy Hoofers Relay for Life.
