He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale Griffen and Frances Griffen (Martin); his siblings, Darryl Griffen, Charlotte Reynolds and Barbara Nies; his brother-in-law Delmar Nies; his nephew Darryl Lynn Griffen; and his granddaughter Haeley Mae Auers.

He is survived by: his wife Betty J. Epperson; his children, Shannon Belcher, Heather Swanson (Steve) and Char Belcher (Aaron); his siblings, Rosalie Carda (Gene), Dennis Griffen (Carolyn) and Joyce Griffen; and his grandchildren, Nyesa Anderson (Brian), Allisa Newman (Kurt), Aurianna Workenaour (Sean), Michael Shegstad (Lea), Justin Shegstad (Shiann), Christopher Auers Jr., Hannah Mallet and Marshall Hackbart. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
