He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Pittman and Goldie Pittman (Pierson); and his siblings, LaVonne Waage, Thomas E. Pittman, Jr., Evelyn Brauckman, Romaine and Deloris.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Pittman of Yale; his children, Marty Pittman (Linda) of Des Moines and Brenda Smith (Tim) of Yale; and his sister Beverly Nelsen of Perry. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be left to the Alzheimer's Association.
