He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Richard and Junellyn Pierce (Scheffler); his grandparents, Sara, Arthur Pierce, Olga and Herman Scheffler; and his brother-in-law Charles Ekstein of Loma, Nebraska..
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ekstein (Marge); his daughters, Kris Roberts of St. Charles and Kerri Wede of Treynor; his grandchildren, Sara Farver (Maxwell) of Ankeny, Lydia Wede of Treynor, Courtney Roberts of St. Charles and Zachary Roberts of St. Charles; his siblings-in-law, Elizabeth Kuncl (Richard) of Lowell, Teresa Ekstein of Lincoln, Grace Campbell of Lawrence, Francis Ekstein (Joan) of Ulysses, John Ekstein (Joyce) of Otoe and Joseph Ekstein (Andrea) of Dwight; and his uncle Donald Scheffler of Oakland. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund is being established.
