She was predeceased by: her grandparents, William and Sharon Musgrove; her stepbrother Timothy Beckman; her uncle Charles Smith Jr.; her father-in-law Raul Vargas Rodriguez; and also, Maria, Angel Mendieta, Teresa and Raul Vargas.
She is survived by: her mother Cynthia S. Musgrove Smith (Raymond) of Fruitland; her husband Raul V. Mendieta of Muscatine; her children, Emilio Smith, Matthew Mendieta, Maria Mendieta and Beatriz Mendieta of Muscatine; her father Michael 'Mikey Smith (Brenda) of Muscatine; her siblings, Chad Smith (Molly) of Letts, Casey Smith (Jacee Christianson) of Muscatine, Melissa Reeves (Steve) of Fruitland, Jamie Munson (Irvin Cabrera) of Fruitland and Amy Bock (Ian) of Azel, Texas; her grandparents, Chuck, Roberta Smith of Muscatine and Bernice Beckman of Muscatine; her mother-in-law Beatriz Mendieta of Mexico; and her brothers-in-law, Jesus Mendieta of Mexico, Jonathan Mendieta of Mexico and Uriel Mendieta of Mexico. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
