He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Elmer and Jeanne Kathleen Petersen (Ziebarth); and his siblings, John Petersen, Joe Petersen and Judy Petersen.
He is survived by: his former wife Renee Hora; his daughters, Gina Petersen (Jeff O'Maley) of Cedar Rapids and Jessica Oplinger of Kanapolis, Kansas; and his siblings, Bill Petersen of Clay Center, Richard Petersen (Tara) of Muscatine, Mary Petersen (Blaine Hill) of Illinois City and Patty Petersen of Davenport. He is also survived by five grandchildren; one great grandchild.
