It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dan Smead of Muscatine, Iowa, born in Albia, Iowa, who passed away on September 18, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy L. Smead and Juanita Smead (Cook); and his brother Roy L. Smead. He is survived by: his wife Linda of Muscatine; his daughters, Mandy Rudolph (Nick) of Muscatine and Abby Gauley (Matt) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Matthew, Owen, Drew, Lexie and Harper; his sister Karen Dicks; his sister-in-law Ginny Smead; and his close friend Mark Bacon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established for Welcome Home Soldier in Albia.
