He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Mathias and Elizabeth Mathias Sr. (Baker); and his brother Fred Mathias. He is survived by: his wife Lorris Wheeler of Muscatine; his children, Charles "Chaz" Mathias III of Muscatine, Ann Ballensky (William) of Muscatine and Amy Claypool (Thomas) of Muscatine; and his sisters, Joyce Howard of Muscatine and Mary Elizabeth Shoultz of Florida. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
