He was predeceased by: his parents, Teuvo Mathias Airola and Dorothy Junia Anderson Airola; his brother Teuvo M. Airola, Jr.; and his grandson Charles. He is survived by: his siblings, Catherine Esther Airola Kucenas (Clay) and Stephen Arthur Airola; his wife Carolyn Ruth Jenkins; his children, Matthew Sairanen Airola (Karen), Rachel Ann, Allison Ruth and Elizabeth Davenport Airola Negus (Carl); his grandchildren, Teuvo Jedi Negus and Sean Matthew Negus; and his siblings-in-law, Donald Jenkins (Gwen) and Janet (late Charles Jenkins). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Muscatine Symphony Orchestra.
