It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Frederick Deets of Mason City, Iowa, who passed away on January 19, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Frederick and Elaine Augusta Deets (Ingersoll); his brothers, Larry and Bernard; his parents-in-law, Grace and Maurice Dodge; his brothers-in-law, Jerry Lee Dodge, Dick Dodge, Eugene Shackleton and David Schotanus; his son-in-law Daniel Weitzel; and his aunt Naomi Ingersoll.
He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; his son Christopher Deets (Julia); his grandchildren, Andrew, Anna and Alex; his son Bradly Deets (Amber); his grandchildren, Maxwell, Hannah and Sawyer; his daughter Amy Weitzel; his grandsons, Zachary, Brandon and Blake (Bill Wood); his daughter Renae Stadtlander (Dean); his grandson Tyler; his son Chad Kahler; his grandchildren, Mac, Samuel and Kylie; his daughter Tonya Spencer (Tony); his grandchildren, Tiffany and Taylor; his great grandchildren, Huxton, Emerson, Peyton and River; and his sisters, Gwen Shackleton, Judith Schotanus and Leanna Anderson (Steve). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
