He was predeceased by: his parents, George Platts and Gertrude Platts (Aldrich); his daughter Barbara Wales; and his brothers, Robert, William and Glenn Platts.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Lux; his son Dave Platts (Sherri); and his grandchildren, Brandon, Collin Platts, Chelsea Nava (Julian) and Wesley Wales (Cori). He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
