He was predeceased by: his parents, Winifred Burns and Lyle Burns; his wife Sue Temple; his former wife Sara Fox; his son Jerry Burns; his siblings, Roland, Gwen Gamm and Judy Dees; and his daughter-in-law Renee Burns.
He is survived by: his children, Roger Burns (Peggy) of Elkader, Karlene Burns of Strawberry Point, Kenneth Burns Jr. (Mayra) of Marion, Ronald Burns (Valerie) of Walford, Kelly Schmidt of Charles City and Dennis Jarchow (Monica) of Cedar Falls; and his brother Lee of Woodburn. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
