She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Richard Widel and Beth Widel (Podhaski); her fiancé Joe Taets; her daughter Lakyn; her grandchild Jameson; her pet Mavis; her brothers, Kyle (Amanda Widel) and Adored; her nephews, Keaton, Kohen, Kaison and Korbin Widel; and her grandparents, Jeff and Carole Podhaski. She was also cherished by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a college memorial fund has been established for Kara's daughter Lakyn.
