With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Helen Marie Sanger Bartels of Maquoketa, Iowa, born in Grand Mound, Iowa, who passed away on December 31, 2021 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Stender and Lena Marie Stender (Siemsen); her husband Howard Sanger (Maynard); her former husband Maynard Bartels; and her siblings, Lois Brinkman, Betty Benhart, Melvin Stender and Bob Stender.
She is survived by: her children, Kenny Sanger of Maquoketa, IA, Donnie Sanger (Pam) of Marion, IA, Jim Sanger Sr. of Davenport, IA, Gary Sanger (Brenda) of Maquoketa, IA and Dennis Sanger of Maquoketa, IA; her grandchildren, Shelley Sanger-Hoover, Darrin Sanger, Jamie Sanger, Lisa Sanger and Kelley Sanger; and her great grandchild Storm Hoover. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or to the family.
