He was predeceased by: his parents, John Albert and Faye Swanger (Chichester); his wife Barbara McCormick; and his siblings, Harry, Ernie, Herb, Harvey and Elizabeth.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Swanger, Pauline Van Os, Howard Swanger Jr., Tommy Swanger, Kathy Swanger, Fred Swanger, Sarah Swanger, Bobby Swanger, Derek Swanger, Stephanie Johnson, Ashley Petersen, Luke Swanger and Matt Swanger; and his stepsons, Dennis Long, Gary Long and Mark Long. He is also survived by several grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
