We are sad to announce that on November 24, 2021, Rita A. Kies of Jesup, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mathias Kremer and Matilda Kremer (Lardy); her husband Gerald Henry Kies; her daughter Elizabeth Kies; her great grandchildren, Ty Kies and Garrett Rottinghaus; her son-in-law Joseph Scigliano; and her siblings, Joseph M. Kremer, Alfred Kremer, Matt Kremer, Robert Kremer, Marie Soteros, Agnes Meisch Helmers, Matilda "Tilly" Temeyer, Margaret Kraus, Rose Buhrow and Lucy Toal.
She is survived by: her children, Robert Kies (Judy), Thomas Kies (Mary), Martin "Pete" Kies (Deb Hunemuller) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lawrence "Larry" Kies (Jane), Mutare, Zimbabwe, Africa, Victor Kies (Marilyn), John Kies (Sally), Francis "Fritz" Kies, Joseph Kies (Ruth) of Necedah, WI, Audry Scigliano of Des Moines, IA, Ramona "Mona" Rottinghaus (Rick) of Waterloo, IA and Charlotte Jordan of Hudson, IA; and her sister Theresa Serafini of Sunny Vale, CA.. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren.
Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Church, Jesup; Camp Courageous of Iowa, Monticello; and to Cedar Valley Hospice.
