Schmit (Jesup, Iowa), born in Gilbertville, Iowa, who passed away on September 8, 2018, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his parents, Valentine Schmit and Matilda Schmit (Mangrich); his children, Angela McClain of Ames, Carla Chorpening (Curt) of Rowley, Dana Schmit (Becky) of Jesup and Thomas Schmit of Denver; his daughter-in-law Brenda Schmit; his grandchildren, Brian McClain (Sue), Sean McClean, Derek Schmit, Cole Schmit, Kayla Hahn (Jesse), Tucker Chorpening, Mitchell Schmit (Jill), Austin Schmit, Olivia Schmit, Tyler Schmit and Alexis Schmit; his sister Laurene Weiers of Phoenix, AZ; his sisters-in-law, Marcella Schmit of Gilbertville and Mary Lou Schmit of Waterloo; his sons, Charles Ray Schmit and Patrick Michael Schmit; his grandson Dillon Charles Schmit; his son-in-law Mike McClain; and his siblings, Martina Schmit, Marcella Sadler, Irma Kresser, Viola Frost, Agatha Thome, Lawrence Schmit, Arnold Schmit, Irvin Schmit, Edwin Schmit and Cletus Schmit. He is also survived by his parents wife.
