Kenneth Brunken Obituary
JEFFERSON, S.D.-- Kenneth W. Brunken, 75, of Jefferson passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011, at a local hospital. Per Kenneth's request, cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kenneth was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Bloomfield, Neb., the son of Henry and Dorothy (Beetle) Brunken.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School and attended Midlands College in Fremont, Neb. Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was attached to the Army Security Agency as a cryptographer. He was honorably discharged in 1959. He married Ann Hull on Dec. 14, 1959 in Lynch, Neb. Kenneth served as the secretary for the ABC Bowling League for several years.
He enjoyed woodworking, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ann Brunken; a son, Thomas Brunken of Jefferson; four granddaughters, Elizabeth, Jessica, Christine and Susan; four great-grandchildren, Onna, Damion, Christian and Matthew; two sisters, Norma Eckmann of Bloomfield, Neb., and Karen Erickson of Adel, Iowa; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Anthony Brunken; a sister, Verna Zart; and two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Eckman and Jody Zart.
