He was predeceased by: his parents, Maynard Richard Pennington and Ruth Gertrude Pennington (Slemmons); his wife Ellen Elsie Ralston; and his children, Richard Pennington and Melissa Pennington.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kinda Pennington of Independence, IA and Michelle Pennington of Independence, IA; and his brothers, Wendell Pennington (Mary Ellen) of Bonaire, GA and Harlan Pennington (Becky) of Des Moines, IA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the church as well as the Independence Area Food Pantry.
