He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Shannon and Alta Shannon (Ohl); his wife Bertha; and his siblings, Virginia Lumsden, Betty Lenihan, Marshall Shannon, Duane "Red" Shannon, Howard Shannon and Robert Shannon.
He is survived by: his pet George; his children, Angie, Angela Shannon of Independence and Andy Shannon of Oelwein; his grandchildren, Brittney Baerg (Matt) of Oelwein and Zach Shannon of Oelwein; his great grandchildren, Emma and Brantley Baerg; and his siblings, Alice Brown of Waterloo, Helen Welsch of Brandon, Cecil Shannon of Oelwein, Clarence Shannon (Alice) of Fairbank and Joyce Leninger of Evansdale.
