He was predeceased by: his parents, Ida Muench and John Muench; his son Michael John; and his sisters, Lillian McLaren, Helen Haverkamp and Loretta Hubbart.
He is survived by: his wife Sheri Miller; his children, Brian of Chanhassen, MN and Carol Fleter (Jim) of Marietta, GA; and his granddaughters, Jensen, Morgan and Lily Muench. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Ewalu or the Food Bank.
