He was predeceased by: his parents, Merlin Francis Bachman and Esther Suckow Bachman; his granddaughter Lisa Hunter; and his daughter-in-law Nery Bachman. He is survived by: his children, Lynn Bachman of Madison, Wisconsin, Cheryl Bachman of Seattle, Washington, Jeannie Kelderman (Kent), Lee Bachman of Swisher, Iowa, Diane Hunter (Michael) of Mesa, Arizona, Leon Bachman (Jeanne) of Independence, Iowa, Karen Bachman-Ellis (Lawrence) of Seattle, Washington and Robert Bachman of Marengo, Iowa; his siblings, James Bachman (Louise) of Hazelton, Iowa, Delores Orr (Bill) of Maynard, Iowa, Marilyn Corkery of Marion, Iowa, Jeannette Arment (Hal) of Shawnee, Kansas, Sharon Wilkinson (Tom) of Atkins, Iowa and Connie Jennings (Neil) of Hudson, Wisconsin; and his close friend Rick Trier. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was 86 years old and lived a long and fruitful life despite having Alzheimer's Disease in his final years.
