He was predeceased by: his parents, LuVerne Schmidt and Minnie Schmidt (Fritz); and his brothers, Jim and Richard Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Linda Kay Hueschen; his children, Lisa Schmidt of Mapleton, Iowa and Mike Schmidt; his brother Daniel; his sisters-in-law, Elaine (Jim) and Kathy (Richard); his grandchildren, Ashley Harwerth, Kaylee Oberreuter (Belinda) of Arvada, Colorado, Thomas Oberreuter of Ida Grove, Olivia Oberreuter of Sioux City, Emily and Aubrey Schmidt of Dysart, Iowa; and his great grandchildren, Taylor Hopkins of Arvada, Titus, Ellie and Caleb Harwerth of Sterling, Colorado..
