He is survived by: his former wife Christine Ver Helst; his wife Chris Whipple of Hampton; his son Andy Whipple (Christina) of Hampton; his grandchildren, Alexander Whipple (Raylie) of Des Moines, David Michael Whipple of Hampton and Liberty "Libby" Whipple of Hampton; his siblings, Johanna Roan of Shreveport, Jeanne King of Mason City, Anne Roberts (Gene) of Mason City, John Whipple of Mason City, Lynn Whipple of Mason City and Steve Whipple of Mason City; his sisters-in-law, Clarene Backer (Roger) of Greene, Mary Rasmusson of Oklahoma and Susie Diggens of Washington State; his stepmother Colleen Whipple of Mason City; his brother-in-law Dennis Harris of Mason City; and his close friends, Loui and Kathy Larson of Mason City. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
