She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Michael McCarthy and Laura McCarthy (Sackett); her uncle Ray; her aunt Lottie South; her husband Virgil E. Nichols; her children, Barabara Ann, Roeline and Jim Nichols (Salli) of Storm Lake; her grandchildren, Matt Fecher (Shannon) of Jefferson, Jeffrey Fecher (Jen) of West Lafayette, Indiana, Tim Fecher of Greenfield, Jordan Jorgensen (Jeff) of Storm Lake and Ty Nichols (Ashlee) of Algona; her great grandchildren, Kendall, Carter, Chase Fecher, Lauren, Allison Fecher, Vivian, June, Rosemary Jorgensen and Zackary Nichols; her adoptive parents, Ray South and Lottie South (Virgil Nichols); her siblings, Rebecca Culver and Lloyd McCarthy; and her nieces and nephews, Barbara Ann and Roeline. She was also cherished by children or later, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She lost a battle with the ramifications from Covid-19.
