He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert and Julia (Kirwin); and his siblings, Robert, James, Marian and Jean.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis; his children, Kevin (Jody) of Altoona, Kris Smith (Sean) of Urbandale and Kirk of Fort Dodge; and his sister Nancy of Minnetonka, MN..
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
