He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen and Betty; his brother Phil Bretthauer; his niece Janelle Cravens; his brother-in-law Bob Burris; and his nephew Derek Burris.
He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Burris of Moorland, Rick Bretthauer of North Liberty, Chuck Bretthauer of Fort Dodge and Terry Bretthauer (Kay) of Urbandale. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
