We are sad to announce that on March 20, 2024 we had to say goodbye to Charlene (Kaiser) Merkel of Forest City, Iowa, born in Aurora, Iowa. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Morris VandeVoorde and Zoe VandeVoorde; her husband Bill Merkel; her son Mark Kaiser (Marilyn); and her siblings, Warren "Butch" VandeVoorde, Connie Mc Daniel and Joyce Odekirk.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cheri Crawford (Bill) of Forest City, IA, Jody Kelly (Chuck) of Shell Knob, MO, Lori Nelson (Rick) of Corvallis, OR and Vicki Cordell (Jeff) of Shell Knob, MO; and her stepchildren, Matthew Merkel (Linda), Michael Merkel (Rebecca), David Merkel (Kathleen), Charles Merkel (Lori) and Katherine Merkel (Sing). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the Good Samaritan Center Ice Cream machine fundraiser.
