He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldon Swanson and Helen Swanson (Hough); his daughter-in-law Amy Swanson; his grandson Kirby Taylor; and his siblings-in-law, Duane Anderson and Karleen Slater (Al).
He is survived by: his wife Karen Swanson of Estherville; his children, Mike Swanson of Viera, Barbara Taylor of Estherville and Jay Swanson of Butler, Tennessee; his siblings, Gary Swanson (Pat) of Graettinger and Donna Smith (Ron) of Estherville; and his sisters-in-law, Anita Larsen (Mark) of Ringsted and Sherry Gjerde (Dennis) of Estherville. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
