She was predeceased by: her parents, Marinus Paulsen and Carrie Anina Paulsen (Petersen); her husband Leonard W. Swartz; her brother Gerald Paulsen; and her brothers-in-law, Roger Rochleau and Vincent Hughes.

She is survived by: her children, Sheryl Christensen (Dean) of Des Moines, David Swartz (Amanda) of Maple Hill, Deanna Meyer (Richard) of Manson and Vickie Swartz of Urbandale; her grandchildren, Laura Lane (Nathan), Dayna Christensen, David Christensen, Dillon Lundgren, Danica Lundgren, Delaney Lundgren, Zoey Swartz, Dylan Meyer, Logan Meyer and Emily Meyer; her siblings, Berdine Paulsen, Mavis Evans (Ralph), Louise Rochleau, Agnes Hughes, Esther Paulsen and James Paulsen (Mary); and her siblings-in-law, Patti Paulsen and Albert Swartz (Carol). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
